With the Observer Media Group, based in Sarasota, Florida, I primarily work on print design. I focus on maximum visual impact at our magazine-style, hyper-local community newspapers. I've worked as an editorial designer there since August 2015.
I started as a copy editor with the Fairbanks Daily News-Miner, the daily newspaper in Fairbanks, Alaska, in September 2011. I was promoted to copy desk chief in April 2014. In July 2015, I left Fairbanks, driving the Alaska Highway through Canada and continued down to Sarasota to start my job at the Observer. Before the News-Miner, I worked as a copy editor and page designer at Agweek magazine in Grand Forks, North Dakota, for two years. Agweek magazine covers agriculture news for North Dakota, South Dakota, Montana and Minnesota.
As an editorial designer, I use InDesign, Photoshop and Illustrator daily. I design pages, create maps and graphics, and edit photos for print and web. I primarily work on Mac computers, and I have some PC experience. I am accustomed to producing quality work on deadline, working independently, as well as collaborating with design and copy editing teams. I have experience managing web and social media content.
